Friends of All Saints.
The story of our village and its church are almost inseparable. History records a church on the present site pre-Domesday, and since then the building has been a place of worship for the faithful and a meeting place for the whole community.
As residents of the village, our wish is to nurture and enhance the spirit of life that has always been at the heart of this community. The church is the largest building we currently have and it has the potential to provide the space we need for events and activities that we can all share, whatever our age, interest or belief. Unlike other villages, our predecessors in Kirkby Overblow never built a village hall, so perhaps it is time for history to turn full circle and for the church once again to provide a space for meetings, clubs, exhibitions and concerts. Many of you will have already had a taste of how the church building can be used, through participating in the Arts Festivals, ‘Wedding Belles’, concerts and coffee mornings; and there is so much more that can be done if we open our minds and let our imaginations go!!
It is our vision to develop the church premises into a building that can be used for both inspiring worship and community-wide activities. We will need to combine carefully centuries of tradition with up-to-date practice and design. Our hope is that this brochure will inspire you to join in this exciting development.
